Window cleaning in cold weather

Winter months for window cleaners means very cold hands, freezing hoses, freezing water, potentially cold & wet feet, and many more hazards to contend with.

Planning is Key – Assessing hazards.

Keep up to date with the weather forecast so you can prepare the day/night before. This may mean ensuring you have the right equipment and clothing required for tasks. Most winter related problems can be avoided with good preparation.

Working – reduce water spillage.

Gritting/Salting

Give a generous spread of salt / grit to areas with water spillage. Pay particular attention to areas where people will be
walking, i.e., entrance ways, walkways etc. Salt can stop ice from forming and causing a slip hazard.
